ECHA Outlines PFAS Restriction Proposal Evaluation Process

ECHA Outlines PFAS Restriction Proposal Evaluation Process

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is detailing the progression of evaluating the proposal aimed at restricting per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in Europe.

Following a thorough review of numerous consultation comments received, ECHA is delineating the subsequent steps for implementing the PFAS restriction under REACH, the EU’s chemicals regulation.

ECHA’s Risk Assessment (RAC) and Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC) committees will collectively assess the proposed restriction along with the consultation feedback in stages, focusing on sectors potentially impacted. Simultaneously, the five national authorities responsible for the proposal are revising their initial report to incorporate the consultation comments, forming the basis for committee evaluations.
